Godaalo is part of Sool Regions and lies 130 northeast of Las'anod and 130 north of Garowe. With a population of approximately 25,000 HHs, and established in 1964, Godaalo was instituted as a district in December 2018. The following villages were also brought under Godaalo district: Barde-Dawanle, Duuray, Yooco, Basbasa, and Sibidh. The district is inhabited by hardworking, cooperative, and industriousness people, who are always ready to participate in community initiatives. The community through community fundraising built a new primary school that consists of 8 classes, library and principal office and three toilets and a fence. Godaalo district doesn't have a paved road to use for transporting goods to and from the district. Currently, the community used a rough road connecting God'alo to both Garowe and Las’anod, built by the community and annually repaired through community contributions. The Wadahal-Dialogue Project is helping the community set up a resource mobilisation committee and opened a bank account for their project to establish a paved road. The Project will use the online Sokaab platform to track the transactions of the bank accounts and contributions from community members. Through Sokaab, members of the public will be able to access these financial transactions online. Community contributions amounting to USD 15,000 are expected to be contributed voluntarily by the residents of Godaalo and its diaspora.
