At least the basic healthcare systems are in dire need of necessary medicine and facilities to keep the health of many communities in east Africa. These communities are left defenseless against life-threatening diseases, lacking the medication, facilities, and medical professionals needed. In Laan-Abeer, a small village which is 12 km east of Beledhawo is battling high infant mortality and maternal diseases and sometimes results deaths. These communities don’t have access and funding for the life saving medication. As there is no direct transport from Laan-abeer to Beled Hawo, the family members have to call Beledhawo and rent a private car a high expense. In addition to the high rent, the accommodations in Beled hawo during their stay are another burden they have to worry. However, there are community members who don’t afford such expenses and may turn to traditional healing which most of the time puts the patient’s health into critical stage that may lead to long term illness or even death. After learning the DIALOGUE Project, community committees are now trying to fundraise for the establishment of Laan-abeer health post. The DIALOGUE project is a resource mobilization initiative by DRC that contributes 50% of the total cost of community and public project to create trust between Somali people and their government in the management of their own development. With your donations, the Laan-abeer community you could build a community health post to advance in maternal and child health, or the medication needed once they are diagnosed the deadly disease. Every donation brings this village closer to advancing community health.
