Qasaale is a small post-war village, 8 km from Luuq town that host a farm workers community of more than 180 Households. The village is amid a region controlled by Al-Shabab insurgent and relatively enjoys a fragile peace. They have a small school, health post and a dam to drink but very often community tells you they lack a conference center where they would have liked to promote peace and other community development initiatives. This small growing community is planning to dramatically expand their social development activities including local peace promotion to save youth joining extremism, mediation of tribes and solving conflicts among them, fostering voluntary integration and cooperation and the development of self-help spirit among community members. However, the community particularly community elders and leaders have no place to meet to promote such initiative except under a tree. Obviously, the meetings are delayed by continuous rains, sometimes the blazing sun and it is dangerous to hold during the night due to deadly animals. Your gift to Act for Peace can help us provide building for community hall to promote peace initiatives, social awareness and reference center for elders when there are immediate issues to be solved. Most importantly, your generous gift will be helping the community to build a center to cultivate integration and cooperation among them, receive seminars and high level authorities. The gift will direct go to a community managed bank account at Salam Bank. The DIALOGUE initiative from DRC and Shaqodoon organization will support to cover 50% of the total community/district project. The DIALOGUE project is a resource mobilization initiative by DRC to contribute 50% of the total cost of community and public project to create trust between Somali people and their government in the management of their own development. A better world is possible when we work together. Please give us your donation today.
